Found alive: Two Flying Dinosaur Species in Papua New Guinea [with videos]

Bat-like wings, a beak full of razor sharp teeth, tearing claws, a long tail with a flanged end, is this night-flying reptile a figment of the imagination? Or does it provide living proof that dinosaurs still exist today in far-flung and obscure little corners of the world. Researchers have unearthed the pterosaur, 2010.

The Ropen (Demon-flyer) has terrified the people of Papua New Guinea for thousands of years, a monster of the skies that swoops down on its unsuspecting prey, often at night, and carries them off to its lair.

The world is full of tales of mythical beasts (the Loch Ness Monster, Bigfoot, the Yhetti) and expeditions costing millions of dollars have been carried out, often with the same result: little or no evidence, so the myth lives on.

Not so with the Ropen, or Dimorphodon Pterosaur, the flying reptile which is supposed to have died out 65 million years ago with the rest of the dinosaurs, because, according to American-based researcher Terrence Aym*, “Eyewitness reports – collected by determined exploration teams seeking strong evidence of the creatures – have led serious researchers to the conclusion that two distinct animals exist”.

Meet the Ropen and the smaller Duah, a relative. Eye-witness reports from teams of researchers go hand in hand with local folklore, telling of terrifying flying beasts with long beaks crammed with razor-sharp teeth, a long tail with a flange on the end and huge bat-like wings. Now, (see the original story from the link below) graphic real-time video evidence has been added, shot by intrepid researchers Jim Blume and David Woetzel, who have explored Papua New Guinea and several Pacific Isles.

Scouring the region for their prey, they encountered what they were looking for: flying dinosaurs with wingspans of ten to fifteen feet (eye witnesses say they can be much larger) and two different species which inhabit the dense forests and mountain regions of one of the remotest and least visited parts of the globe

  2. Images 1 through 4 look like a pterosaur, but 5 and 6 look like a big bird. In the 1980s someone built a flying model of a pterosaur–Quetzalcoatlus northropi–but this in 1-4 doesn’t look that much like I remember it looking, wings are similar but the head is different, but someone could ave built another different. The wing profile in 5 & 6 looks like a large sea bird, frigate bird, perhaps? It looks really big, but it’s hard to tell about the size, even in the vids.

  3. the wings don’t flip at all, are these RC planes?

  4. It’s a Pteranodon, going by the crest at the back of the head. Real or not I can’t say. It wouldn’t flap it’s wings much – they were gliders, didn’t have the musculature for much flapping.

  5. Images 5 and 6 are of a frigatebird (Fregata minor). The first four look like CGI.

  6. image 5 and 6 definitely reminds me of a frigate bird with the typical white patch under the belly

  7. jao kurca i jada

  8. I remember reading a story of some I think French diggers in a mine that unearthed a similar creature preserved in a cocoon of coalish substance it shuttered and took a few lumbring steps and gasped & expired dead at their feet …it was just a story but wished there was a photo involved with it.

  9. Images one through 6 look like stills from the movie War Games, where the professor is flying his remote controlled dino bird off of the beach near his home.

  10. A figment of your IMAGINATION!!!

5 and 6 ARE a frigate bird. The rest is CGI/Photoshop. Its all a bunch of crap

  11. I don’t know. Personally I would have to see one in person. Another thing I want to point out is that the images loook like those which scientists suppose the animal looked like during prehistoric times. NO ONE knows for sure what these creatures looked like therefore I can only ascertain the photos are smoke sreens and mirror and playing on our minds as those images are ingrained/taught to us from an early age………

  12. There are a number of things which tell me that the first four images are full on fakes. Mostly the fact that the image resolution of the “dinosaur” is much greater than the resolution of the rest of the image means that the video was definitely doctored.

  14. whats the point of people trying to prove anything in this world lol ppl supply pictures and automatically u get people saying fake fake fake, or videos and ppl automatically say fakeeee,,,,lol its like people are scared to see the truth cos it messes up everything theyve been taught and believe in. ppl need to open their minds a bit more

  15. I find it hard to believe this…hehehe…it’s so easy for a person in the developing world to come up with few photos altered on photoshop or some computer program and add a few names here and there and a touch of the oldest but yet catchy descriptions of PNG, “mountainous region…remotest parts of the jungle…isolated…headhunters, etc” . I hate to spoil the show but I am from PNG and there are no flying dinosaurs here except for the flying foxes which are known to fly over the mountain ranges over into Indonesia. The parts of PNG once thought to be uninhabited have been discovered by explorers in the early 1930′s to have people living there in isolation. These dense forests and mountains now have been found to hold liquified natural gas (lng) and crude oil. Since the 1990′s large mining and petroleum companies have been up into these parts of PNG and there has not been any sightings of such creatures apart from the occassional giant pythons and boas.

  16. @david

its more like we are taught to question things and dont hold beliefs until they have been factually proven. considering the amount of people in the world who lie and the type of fucked up system we live in, smarter people tend to be less gullible.

  17. Images 5 & 6 are definately some type of seabird, like a frigate or an albatross, looking at the wing structure and general structure of the body. Also, I can tell that the BIRD in 5 and 6 is smaller than the “pterosaur” in images 1-4.

  18. What’s amazing about all this is the deception. Time and again, people continue to fabricate “evidence” to prove the existence of many things that never existed. Science comes up with an explanation without any real undisputable proof. And the next thing you know, we have “sightings” popping up every where. UFOs, dinosaurs, bigfoot, Loch Ness, the list goes on and on. But the photo continue to be blurry. The clear ones give away the fraud. People should wake up and realize that all this garbage is a waste of time. People want to be sweeped off their feet by an extra-terrestrial or some other “weird” entity. This is how much monotony there is in people’s lives. They have no meaning or purpose in their lives. So they look for answers outside of reality.

  19. It?s actually a nice and useful piece of info. I am satisfied that you shared this useful info with us. Please keep us up to date like this. Thanks for sharing.
