The Mystery 'UFO RINGS'

Until today there is much uncertainty about the phenomenon called ‘UFO Rings’.

Although there are many phenomena which are inexplicable, and attributed to Alien Sightings. but when we talk about ‘UFO-Rings’ many of these rings can be explained as ‘Smoke Rings’ - ’Fire Rings’ - ’Vortex Rings’ or even Halo’s.

A vortex ring can be formed also in the atmosphere by a rising (falling) mass of warm (cold) air, which is also called a thermal(microburst). One is occasionally at the core of a mushroom cloud, and they can be seen at fire eater presentations. Wikipedia

“Vortex Rings’ cause UFO confusion

The ‘smoke rings’ caused by explosions at the Emu Gully Air and Land Spectacular were confused for UFOs.

BARRY Rodgers’ black smoke rings have caught the attention of metropolitan newspapers.

Mr Rodgers was surprised to learn that the “mysterious halos”, caused by demonstrations at the weekend’s Emu Gully Air and Land Spectacular, had been confused for Unidentified Flying Objects (UFOs).

“There were unusual atmospheric conditions on the weekend,” Mr Rodgers said.

“Even our pyrotechnician said he had never seen anything like it before.

“Technically (there are caused by) a combination of the pyrotechnics used and the way it was laid out in one of the battle scenarios … it was still a very rare occurrence.”

The Air and Land Spectacular held in Helidon featured fiery explosions and simulated trench warfare.

Halo – Optical Phenomenon

Ice Crystal Halos. A halo also known as a nimbus, icebow or Gloriole) is an optical phenomenon produced by ice crystals creating colored or white arcs and spots in the sky. Many are near the sun or moon but others are elsewhere and even in the opposite part of the sky. They can also form around artificial lights in very cold weather when ice crystals called diamond dust are floating in the nearby air.

There are many types of ice halos. They are produced by the ice crystals in cirrus clouds high (5–10 km, or 3–6 miles) in the upper troposphere. The particular shape and orientation of the crystals is responsible for the type of halo observed. Light is reflected andrefracted by the ice crystals and may split up into colors because of dispersion. sundogs. Passing through the sundogs and extending beyond them is the parhelic circle. It sometimes encircles the whole sky at the same altitude as the sun. Upper and lower tangent arcs touch the 22° halo directly above and below the sun. Acircumzenithal arc is high above all.

22º Circular radius halos are visible all over the world and throughout the year. Look out for them (eye care!) whenever the sky is wisped or hazed with thin cirrus clouds. These clouds are cold and contain ice crystals in even the hottest climes.

Tangent arcs form when cirrus clouds have well developed columnar ice crystals drifting with their long axes almost horizontal. These are called “singly oriented columns” because having their long axes horizontal is their only orientation constraint. They can take up any rotational position around their long axis and a vertical axis. This crystal orientation is a common one and produces a number of different halos.

Circumscribed halo is typically a brightly coloured oval around the sun. It is tangential to the inner 22º halo directly above and below the sun and it is brightest there. Sometimes local brightenings of the 22º halo are the only sign of it. Its shape depends very much on the solar altitude
