This short film is about a piece of footage I (George Clarke) found behind the scenes in Charlie Chaplins film ‘The Circus’. Attending the premiere at Manns Chinese Theatre in Hollywood, CA – the scene shows a large woman dressed in black with a hat hiding most of her face, with what can only be described as a mobile phone device – talking as she walks alone.
I have studied this film for over a year now – showing it to over 100 people and at a film festival, yet no-one can give any explanation as to what she is doing.
My only theory – as well as many others – is simple… a time traveler on a mobile phone. See for yourself and feel free to leave a comment on your own explanation or thoughts about it. (Author George Clarke)

So, some are saying this is a hearing aid device from the 1920′s. However, if you watch the video the woman is clearly talking to some one. She even pauses her stride because the conversation was taking up too much of her concentration. So, if this is a hearing aide device, the woman is clearly crazy because shes talking to herself. It could be a walky talky, very possible for secret angencies to have had that technology already. This woman, if an agent, would probably not be using this secret device on the street in front of everyone or in front of the camera. Strange, very strange indeed.
If you look at the thumb position its not visible. When you hold a phone the thumb is visible below as there is no space for it on the inside. It could be at the front holding the phone away from the face, but why as the microphone would be far from the mouth. Holding a ball of cloth the thumb is not visible as its on the inside. The finger position is also more natural for a ball of cloth so maybe he or she has some injury there?
Maybe it was a two way radio. Yes, developed by some geek in his garage, and to prove the concept, he gives it to his wife. Since radio’s are new, and large and complicated, he decides to use the transmitter/ receiver in his house / flat nearby, and an aerial. The receiver/ mini transmitter had to be dealt with discreetly to prevent prying eyes on what this new concept was. So he gives it to his wife, dresses her in weird clothing, and sends her off, while he talks to her and she talks back. Nearby Charlie, one of the biggest celebrities in Town is filming so she gets excited and takes a peep.
Its weird why do she use phone without signal their no satellite or signal provider for cellphone in that time it must be a radio or she camera shy
