I regularly holiday on the island of Tenerife. That “Island” is basically just a HUGE volcano, which name is Mount Teide. All of the islands in the canaries have some form of volcanic activity.
I had heard that if Tenerife, or La Palma ever erupted, the way that the land on those two islands is situated, a very large portion of the islands could just slip off, and head straight into the sea, triggering a very large tsunami (that could be at least 50 to 60 metres high), that would head for the east coast of the US, specifically Manhattan.
