UFO or Navy Drone escorted near Oklahoma State Line – Dec 12, 2011

An unusual looking object traveling through Cowley County was the cause of much conversation and speculation Monday morning. Hauled on a large flatbed truck along US Highway 77, area residents got a look at a 32-foot-wide dull gray wrapped apparatus shaped like a flying saucer and featuring flashing red lights. Reports were that the object is a Navy drone which, after wings are attached, will fly off aircraft carriers…winfieldcourier

Witness 1: “My sister and her boyfriend were heading back to Arkansas City KS coming from the gas station-casino on or near the Oklahoma state line, when they noticed the object being towed. A state trooper escorted it and black truck followed”.

Witness 2: This very large craft was driving through Ponca City, Ok just before noon on (12-11-2011). It was escorted by a convoy of about 15 marked and unmarked law enforcement vehicles headed north. The craft was so large the street signs in the center had to be cut down just to pass through town.

It is clear that this is a drone (X-47B) developed by Northrop Grumman in Palmdale in California..  Wind River congratulates U.S. Navy, Northrop Grumman for first flight of X-47B

  1. I think it is definately one of ours. Anything like the one that the Iranians got ahold of?

    • It’s the rq 170 that Iran downed for sure. The CIA variant had 2 extra humps, maybe for extra fuel I believe but it’s the same one.

  2. It has wheels, I mean come on. From all the information we have about Ufos, they wouldn’t have any need for them. It’s definitely one of ours.

  3. yes definitely a drone, you can see the undercarriage on the flatbed, quite a public trip for some high tech military equipment. And yes Deborah A.H., it is the same one (or a later variant) that was captured in Iran.

Its funny to think that very soon we may see pilots being phased out of the air force, in favor of RC units that don’t suffer blackouts, aren’t G-force restricted and don’t kill pilots when the plane is shot down.

  5. I’ve never seen a UFO with wheels attached. This is manmade unless aliens are shopping at the local tire store. Zoom in and read the lettering.

  6. I am facinated by the wings…they fold and lock apparently–It seems they should fold tight enough not to interfer with the pressure of the atmosphere. The drone I have seen in the Iranian photos appear to have ridgid wings. Also note the lack of a tail…facinating structure. I am wondering about the wheel mechinism..are they ridgid or do they also fold in somewhere? Humm..the object in the iranian photos sits there, clean as a new penny with wheels down and wings down– I am facinated…

    • the design was courtesy of Nazi Germany. The B2 bomber was the first American craft to employ this design style, but the Germans made it first in WW2, now they are converting it for drone use. It looks as though it works as a single wing with even the intake acting to curve airflow, making it maneuverable without the tail

  7. I have to say that I saw this or one like it on the road parked on a flatbed near hwy 95 and hwy 93 near Laughlin NV. I didnt have a camera but the next day I went back to get a shoot of it and it was gone. It was also covered in a white/gray plastic that fit like a glove. I wonder if this is the same air craft that was seen in this artical. Also the past few days here I have seen alot of Military choppers both gun and troop carriers.

  9. Definately not a UFO quite simple to see, watch the base structure it is exactly the way of the normal plane. Wheels and mecanism. Well why the hell always telling UFO for nothing… ?????

  10. This may explain all (or most) of those UFO sightings. If it’s truly a UFO in this picture, then maybe he was drunk and speeding and police took “ET” away in handcuffs and now towing the vehicle. Now “ET” knows what it feel like to be human…wonder what that ticket will be like. Whoever made this vehicle have got to be a genius to get folks all riled up and blowing up the internet with their sightings. Think about this picture next time you see sightings of strange flying military vehicles.

  11. On Sunday we saw here in Brazil, at approximately 08:00 pm, a flying object with two bright lights making a very different route altitude of any common object.

  12. just a quick reminder to everybody
UFO: Unidentified – Flying – Object

so in a sense, a plane that you have never seen could be called a U-F-O even if it was on a flatbed truck and looked terrestrial in origin. U-F-O doesn’t mean ET/little green men pilot it. The F117 night hawk was referred to by numerous UFO sightings in 1989 and 1991 before the USAF admitted it existed.

and to all who are wondering this is the one that was captured in Iran

  13. the Northrop B-2 was not the first american design to utilize the flying wing concept. It is, in fact, a descendat of the YB-49 Flying Wing of the late 40s. The B-2 even has the same wingspan, 172 ft, as it’s predecessor.

You are right when you say we got the engineering concepts from the germans.

  16. This doesn’t make sense because why would the military haul a supposedly top-secret flying apparatus down our streets and highways? Why not transport it on a C-130 or something huge like that?
It could be to deter people away from the UFO conspiracy by trying to convince us that these alien objects being seen all over the world are nothing more than military drones. Or, it could be a prop for some kind of show.
It makes no sense that this is not being escorted by full military and security forces. What if the driver of this truck was robbed, and the object taken away? Makes no sense whatsoever.

    • Sandy, you make some really good points! The only other thing I can think of is that maybe this particular model of craft / plane is old news, i.e. the 2010 model or something, and no longer considered to be that big of a deal. Maybe the new 2012 model is the real prize!

    • i think its most likely decommissioned or not yet activated most likely, cost factor aswel, its costs more to get a plane off the ground than to haul it by truck. Then again it could just be a husk section, as we can see it is vaccum packed but cant tell if it is ‘whole’.
