Peak Civilization: MIT Research Team Predicts Global Economic Collapse and Precipitous Population Decline

Research Team Predicts Global Economic Collapse and Precipitous Population Decline!

Researchers at one of the world’s leading think tanks have developed a computing model that predicts serious implications for our way of life as a result of our incessant need to consume resources like oil, food, and fresh water. According to a team of scientists at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, the breaking point will come no later than 2030, and when it does, we can expect a paradigm shift unlike any we have seen before in human history – one that will not only collapse the economies of the world, but will cause food and energy production to decrease so significantly that it will lead to the deaths of  hundreds of millions of people in the process.

The recent study, completed on behalf of The Club of Rome, an organization which issued it’s own findings on ‘peak everything’ back in the 1970′s in a controversial environmental report dubbed The Limits to Growth (video), takes into account the relations between various global developments and produces computer simulations for alternative scenarios.

Via Smithsonian Magazine: Recent research supports the conclusions of a controversial environmental study released 40 years ago: The world is on track for disaster. So says Australian physicist Graham Turner, who revisited perhaps the most groundbreaking academic work of the 1970s, The Limits to Growth.

Written by MIT researchers for an international think tank, the Club of Rome, the study used computers to model several possible future scenarios. The business-as-usual scenario estimated that if human beings continued to consume more than nature was capable of providing, global economic collapse and precipitous population decline could occur by 2030.

Turner compared real-world data from 1970 to 2000 with the business-as-usual scenario. He found the predictions nearly matched the facts. “There is a very clear warning bell being rung here,” he says. “We are not on a sustainable trajectory.”

There is no doubt that the study carries with it its own agenda, as the Club of Rome includes members of the upper echelons of government and business from around the world. Many have suspected that the organization exists as a mechanism to move forward with environmental, and thus social, governance of the world’s resources and population through U.N. initiatives like Agenda 21 and the carbon credit system of taxation, both of which do nothing but shift the wealth of the world into the hands of the elite few at the top of the literal food chain.

But, despite the ulterior motives of those involved in The Club of Rome, they’re not the only ones who have warned of catastrophe stemming from high population levels and unsustainable consumption. In the History Channel’s Prophets Of Doom, Collapsenet’s Michael Ruppert warned of a similar scenario and one which suggests that, while oil may still be available in the future, the costs will be so prohibitive that it will be impossible for human civilization to maintain its current levels of consumption. According to Ruppert, the last great bubble to pop will be the human population bubble.

Other resource issues that have come to light in recent years include the availability of fresh water, as well as the productive capacity of our current agricultural system. Since all of our natural resources are interdependent, a break down in one, like for example the globe’s oil production system, would make it impossible for farmers to grow food, or for trucks to transport it. The same holds true for fresh water, which is essential not only to human life, but for oil exploration, refining operations, food production and a host of other industries essential to human civilization.

By all accounts, we have developed a system of consumption that truly is unsustainable in the long-term. While the Club of Rome and similar organizations purport to act in the best interests of humanity, nearly fifty years of solutions have yielded nothing but more problems and have brought us ever closer to the ultimate breaking point, one which promises to wipe out potentially billions of people in its wake.

An additional consideration which the MIT research study may have touched on but does not look to as a direct potential cause for global calamity is the breakdown of society as a result of unsustainable political, financial, and monetary machinations – something which benevolent members of organizations like The Club of Rome may have been complicit in creating.

There is a strong case to be made that the issuance of trillions of dollars in debt over the course of the last several decades, much like oil, will become impossible to sustain. Since the entire system of consumption is essentially based on this debt, if confidence in this system is lost, it may very well have the same initial effect as a peak oil breaking point. Debt, even when fabricated out of thin air, is essentially a promise tied to some sort of resource. It is based on the idea that something will eventually be created by someone in order to make good on the debt. By all accounts,we the people are the collateral for all of this debt floating our in the system. But, it has gotten to the point that the debt – somewhere in the range of $200 trillion in the United States alone –  far outweighs our ability to harness enough time and energy to repay the principal with interest.

Thus, this ‘peak debt’ created to save us from the unsustainable resource practices we face should be just as big of a concern as peak oil or water. Because when we finally reach the limit of our debt, and it becomes clear that the collateral backing that debt is unable to produce enough yield to pay it back, we’ll have a whole new meaning for the term ‘collateral damage.’

With seven billion people on the planet, the system as it is currently managed can’t possibility continue to support the daily needs of the world’s population indefinitely. The solutions that have been presented over the course of the last half century fall far short of providing any meaningful results, despite the treasure spent and liberty stripped.

Slowly but surely we are approaching Peak Civilization, and when that bubble pops we’ll see the ‘crash’ manifest in the form of famine, disease and global conflict.

  1. These Ivory Tower ostriches apparently know nothing of 2012 changes, Ascension, ET assistance, etc. They get paid to churn out driver reports based on antiquated paradigms. Major changes are unfolding. These kinds of reports are basically meaningless.

  2. At the rate of how events are unfolding, I doubt our civilization as we know it will last that long. They did not factor in the earth changes (earthquakes, volcanoes, shifting weather patterns, etc.) and there is good evidence that these are increasing.

I read the posted information concerning our World trend. History is interesting and strange. I myself have read a lot about history and trends. Over the past times on Earth man has risen high on the totem pole and bounced off and started new things, sometimes because people’s life gets boring or because of mans greed. Sometimes Earth shaking events happen and forces people to move to a safer region, but when people get high in the sky because of wealth and forget about caring for one another it rips everything apart. When power hungry people want to control others by force then things change. Man does have the ability and will to help one another but when it comes to power sometimes these things go astray. I used to watch ScienceFiction movies of what would happen in the future. Some of those movies are very scary because they show no hope. Some movies show a struggle to live and start somewhere. This is the problem with our World, our personality and our behavior attitude towards one another. I’m not saying give everything you own to someone but do give more and help people more. Love and enjoying life is very important. As a child and now as an adult the more that I see same old ways in countries and not coming to proper ways its scary. Like North Korea, still wanting to kill the South Koreans or anyone else who gets in their way. Maybe China because the old empire wants to keep Communist controls over their people. In true reality Communism is good but in mans ways there will never be a true Utopian Society. Only The true God of the Universe has the ability to do such a thing. I’m not trying to preach but when your time is up on Earth you’ll find out. I used to watch a t.v show called ARK II, it was set in the way future after our World collapsed because the power and elite of the World lead the way. Its strange how such a simple ScienceFiction show showed how are real World is headed. Most people all over the World want freedom and live a good life without killing one another or controlling just to get pleasure. All of history has seen the same thing and behavior’s ever since. If you look at the inventions, most are very good. Some inventions of man should never be used against others or to destroy the world. I believe that if man works on his attitude then you will see change in everything. The Earth won’t get sick and upchuck us because how we treat one another or life. Think about it when you see someone or how they might dress. If we were one color we would still try to find something to pick about. Thankyou very much for your time.

Oh, yeah, surprise – surprise – surprise! The most debilitating blow to those who are ignoring the planet they live on, will be the discovery that they live on the planet they don’t know anything about. At this point, it appears those who do not KNOW will suddenly discover they are experiencing the same thing those who do Know or suspect and are preparing for…

This is going to be a world where the poor will persevere. The poor know how to come together in a shared community. Das Mogals are in it, every man for themselves. The earth will take away the trappings of their wealth and they will shiver in astonishment. In a sense, this is a fair warning for them.

At the same time, it is clear to me that someone knows something is up. There are continual reports of hyper-activity in the military, the self defense people, law enforcement and who ever it is who has been digging those tunnels every suspects but are not really sure about. This overt use of HARRP is a signal too. I for one have not figured out why this weapon/tool is being used so I am following it closely.

My quandry is, who to warn and how to warn them without causing enormous difficulty both emotionally and physically. The first instinct is to run–but where? The drive to protect family is predominant for most..that includes pets. {I HOPE] So, I find myself being very careful what I post on facebook–that is my only outlet–and email for those who are not on facebook. I have gotten to the point where I will post something and then hit share..very necessary since folks don’t always come to my site. In this, again, caution is urgent.

It does fall to those who do feel they have an edge on the situation to inform those they love who are scattered far and wide. Some one sent me a wonderful vietnam war hero story the other day..Medal of honor guy–That is the quality of determination we are capable of. It was a clear message. This guy flew his heliocopter through a never ending barriage of enemy fire, pulling his people out of a death trap, over and over again–He saved them all..To my knowledge, he lived to tell the tale. WE CAN DO THIS!

From what I heard today, the chances are we will loose our ability to communicate through technology. Thus it is, I suggest we do the communicating while we can. To you all I wish peace and safety. Nameste–

  5. From now until about two years from now (early 2014) this planet is on a clockwork rendezvous with the end of a (approx.) 26000 year cycle as the Solar System passes through the galactic ecliptic. It is unavoidable. It is the time of Ascension. The end of Duality on this planet. It is explained in the Law of One from Ra. The negative polarity is waning thanks to the rise in consciousness of a critical mass of people, assisted by ETs and the Internet (which itself is a product of seeded ET technology applied for this purpose). A new era with Unity, Christ-Consciousness (which has nothing to do with Christianity) and Infinite Intelligence of The One, All That Is, is due to take us to a new golden age. Read the Law of One. Start with the Study Guide from With light…Nameste…

  6. I believe that the drop in population will be much higher than hundreds of millions. For one thing we are now at 7 billion and a few hundred million would be a drop in the bucket. It has to be as least 2 to 4 billion at a minimum. Probably more. Society has kept the population numbers inflated by using petroleum based fertilizer and mass distribution, both of which will disappear.
Lack of modern medical supplies and technology will cause a shorter lifespan. Global economies with scale down to local economies. Those who live will be the strong who make their clothes houses and soap. Grow their own food. Life will be hard again.

  7. Well, this MIT study was written as if the Illuminati will have nothing to do with the economic crash and the demise of millions of people. They are desciples of Satan and that is his goal for the earth. Look up Ted Gunderson, former FBI chief, on Chem Trails, false flag attacks, and Satanic pedophilia in high political places. This may wake you up (See below for examples). Our Creator God is letting this happen becaue most of us have willingly chosen to go this way by trusting in lies. Our decline and fall is coming and will indeed be getting a lot of human and demonic help.

    • @Ginny ——– Yes, the Dark Kabal are indeed Satan worshippers as are the Jesuits, etc. But it is NOT the divine plan. Duality and that dreadful game is over. The Light will win. The Illuminati will be swept away in a month or two. Positive change is coming and an end to enslavement. Many changes are coming and religion is most in need of major overhaul with its long history of manipulation and false teaching based on lies and corrupted myths.

  8. Right zuvrick, I know that all will indeed “end well,” but we do in the mean time have a few more lessons to learn about falling for, and implementling, false religious and ideological doctines. The “Church” is and has never been imune from this by any means!

Benjamin Fulford, for one, is positive about the demise of the present black Kabal. I’m not so sure, though, that something else will not be taking its evil place.

  9. hmmm, keeping tabs.
