New Planet Found in Our Solar System, Nibiru?

Nibiru? Artist’s conception of a small icy object beyond Pluto

An as yet undiscovered planet might be orbiting at the dark fringes of the solar system, according to new research.

Too far out to be easily spotted by telescopes, the potential unseen planet appears to be making its presence felt by disturbing the orbits of so-called Kuiper belt objects, said Rodney Gomes, an astronomer at the National Observatory of Brazil in Rio de Janeiro.

Kuiper belt objects are small icy bodies—including some dwarf planets—that lie beyond the orbit of Neptune.

Once considered the ninth planet in our system, the dwarf planet Pluto, for example, is one of the largest Kuiper belt objects, at about 1,400 miles (2,300 kilometers) wide. Dozens of the other objects are hundreds of miles across, and more are being discovered every year.

What’s intriguing, Gomes said, is that, according to his new calculations, about a half dozen Kuiper belt objects—including the remote body known as Sedna—are in strange orbits compared to where they should be, based on existing solar system models.

The objects’ unexpected orbits have a few possible explanations, said Gomes, “But I think the easiest one is a planetary-mass solar companion”—a planet that orbits very far out from the sun but that’s massive enough to be having gravitational effects on Kuiper belt objects.

Mystery Planet a Captured Rogue?

For the new work, Gomes analyzed the orbits of 92 Kuiper belt objects, then compared his results to computer models of how the bodies should be distributed, with and without an additional planet.

If there’s no distant world, Gomes concludes, the models don’t produce the highly elongated orbits we see for six of the objects.

How big exactly the planetary body might be isn’t clear, but there are a lot of possibilities, Gomes added.

Based on his calculations, Gomes thinks a Neptune-size world, about four times bigger than Earth, orbiting 140 billion miles (225 billion kilometers) away from the sun—about 1,500 times farther than Earth—would do the trick.

But so would a Mars-size object—roughly half Earth’s size—in a highly elongated orbit that would occasionally bring the body sweeping to within 5 billion miles (8 billion kilometers) of the sun.

Gomes speculates that the mystery object could be a rogue planet that was kicked out of its own star system and later captured by the sun’s gravity.

Or the putative planet could have formed closer to our sun, only to be cast outward by gravitational encounters with other planets.

However, actually finding such a world would be a challenge.

To begin with, the planet might be pretty dim. Also, Gomes’s simulations don’t give astronomers any clue as to where to point their telescopes—”it can be anywhere,” he said.

No Smoking Gun

Other astronomers are intrigued but say they’ll want a lot more proof before they’re willing to agree that the solar system—again—has nine planets.

“Obviously, finding another planet in the solar system is a big deal,” said Rory Barnes, an astronomer at the University of Washington. But, he added, “I don’t think he really has any evidence that suggests it is out there.”

Instead, he added, Gomes “has laid out a way to determine how such a planet could sculpt parts of our solar system. So while, yes, the evidence doesn’t exist yet, I thought the bigger point was that he showed us that there are ways to find that evidence.”

Douglas Hamilton, an astronomer from the University of Maryland, agrees that the new findings are far from definitive.

“What he showed in his probability arguments is that it’s slightly more likely. He doesn’t have a smoking gun yet.”

And Hal Levison, an astronomer at the Southwest Research Institute in Boulder, Colorado, says he isn’t sure what to make of Gomes’s finding.

“It seems surprising to me that a (solar) companion as small as Neptune could have the effect he sees,” Levison said.

But “I know Rodney, and I’m sure he did the calculations right.”

And so we come back to Nibiru.
The very topic which first brought me to this site.
Yes, indeed, she’s out there. Thats not actually in doubt any more, there’s simply to much evidence to support the existence.
What her orbit may be? where she is at This time, how close will she pass when indeed she Does return on her nearest run to the sun…
What effects this will have on us and neighboring worlds?
All is still up in the air on that.
I was once SURE she would be here for late 2012 early 2013.
Now, I just dunno. To much dissinfo. No way to get a real take on what the powers that be surely DO know, and arent sharing with us.
Im sure she is well on her way back in, and I even believe she is within a decade or so away. Likely sooner.
Just No way to pin down when.
My own math says if she is to come before the end of the year, there should be distinctly visible signs even to the naked eye of her aproach by the end of may to early middle June. If nothing is seen by then, then her pass just isnt likely to be here for the equinox.
Now of course, when she does become visible to start with, Nasa will pass it off as Venus being brighter via increased solar activity, or some other stupid thing that wont take long to see through.
They will try to keep it under the rug for absolutely as long as possible.
They will distract us with other world events reaching a pique in the main stream media. they will even Force some events to happen just to be a distraction. Be wary of that.
UFO events are on the rise from already being on the rise.
good time for a false flag alien event in timing with catastrophes and actual Nibiru confirmation?
    We shall see.
The Terrorist farce will only play out so long.

    • Vara……..”no doubt shes out there”…”thats not in doubt anymore”…??? No where… absolutely NO WHERE is there ANY hard evidence that Nibiru exists. Don’t BS people who are new to this site or new to this subject. Leave the bong alone for a few days….lol

        Hi Henry.
You are one of those people that I usually say, “Do your home work” to.
There Is hard evidence. Very Hard evidence. In fact, its written in Stone.
        over and over again.
I think the word You were looking for is “Proof”.
And Proof is subjective. what constitutes proof to one person may not necessarily constitute proof to another.
But let me tell ya… for a few thousand years there was More hard evidence and Proof if you will, that the earth was flat and that the universe revolved around IT.
But we know that just isnt so now dont we?
Lastly, a Lack of proof does Not mean that some thing does Not exist.
If every one in the world was color blind but for one Single person who could actually SEE color, how would that person prove the existence of color?
In conclusion, there is far more to support the fact that Niburu actually exists than there is to Prove, or evidence the notion that it does not.
When you are ready to see the colors Henryy, all you have to do is open your eyes and Look.
Now, Ive done enough free schooling here, its time to go Do your Home Work. 😉

  2. Small Kuiper belt objects are having their orbits slightly disrupted but the actual cause is not yet known. A planet passing near that area may produce the effect, but NO planet has been identified (certainly not Nibiru), it’s only a theory that a planet sized object may be causing the anomaly.

Nibiru was supposed to be visible to all on Earth at the end of 2011 according to many people posting all over the Internet, but here we are in May 2012 and nothing to be seen.

Earth has been here for millions of years and no doubt, will continue for millions more. The biggest threat to Earth’s delicate balance in the short term is “man” and the way we are exhausting every known resource on the planet. Earth supports life, but only so long as we don’t wreck that balance. This is what should concern the people of the World right now. We need to get our house in order and the balance restored, while also keeping a watchful eye on possible dangers from beyond our World.

  3. Henryy, and rock. VARA is wright, you really need to do a little more research, but dont wait too long. The Earths Governments saw Nibiru 100 years ago and are finishing up their underground cities for the Ultra Wealthy(not you nor I). Everyone else that lives through this will be slaves, and you betcha, will take a mark. Just because you choose not the truth does not mean it just doesn`t exist. When you (can see) past logical understanding of the world around you then you will know knowledge unsurpassed. Ok at this point you angry, if UFO-Aliens dont exist, then get on the bandwagon. Do you trust your leaders to take care of you. Tell us, what steps will you take for the many on SSI when congress pulls it out from under you Grand Parents, and the millions on it. Will (YOU) feed them all. This is the grand moment they have been waiting for to usher in their, grand Utopia. You as slaves so they can live Lavishly. I bow to ONE. Jesus Christ. Oh by the way Vara, think into the fallen 1/3 as I mentioned earlier this week. Thank You

I think this planet Nibiru thing is full of belong. It’s just empty words with no real scientific proves.

I just wanted to add that if Nibiru is a planet like this article claims then it will be visible to the naked eye as far as this planet is due to collide with Earth on July 2012 but that’s not the case here. If there is an object out there and we can’t still see it then it’s definitely a brown dwarf. A brown dwarf is invincible to the naked eye and most of the existing telescopes won’t be able to detect it. The only devise capable to detect invisible celestial bodies is an infrared telescope in outer space. Do your research.

  7. Compare the facts: Both religion and the tenth planet are dipicted in stone, and both of these things are based on ones belief system. Only difference to these subject is: Religion is a practice passed on through generations and it got recognised, where as knowledge about the tenth planet was hidden away from the masses and it din’t get it’s recognition.
